 At first, I will tell you, how I found your excellent internet    page at www.irish-guards.co.uk  I spend a little bit of time with the keywords "Gummersbach" and "World War" on the very well-known international search engine  . . .  Google
 I found your private web site about the local past, and your page with the old and lovely pictures from Gummersbach the town where I live, in Germany, and where you were stationed in 1945.
 I had the idea to do this while I was going for a walk to the our local World War memorial place.
 When you are there, you have a great overview on the beautiful town of Gummersbach ..

is grand.

 Marcus will also be happy to see that I have    included a snapshot taken of me in 1945
   in front of the very Memorial  he  speaks    about in his E-mail.   It was a very special     place to   meet   friends   and enjoy the   spectacular view of Gummersbach, in those   days a village, and the beautiful surrounding    area   known   as the Oberbergisher Land.
