This photo above did have writing on the back - it indicates that it is from the Late 1920s" - A large tree on the Battle Abbey estate which was blown down in last nights gale carrying with it the telephone wires. Estate workmen seen at work clearing the road, the traffic being held up for several hours

The story of this photo taken in 1931 is that my grandad Percy nearly did not get the shots at all because he had to go back home for his false teeth - its a good job he only lived round the corner. He had the photos developed onto red paper to make them look like this - there was no photoshop in those days. The story continues that he was asked by a national newspaper to sell the negatives but he refused.
