L.D.V. Private Graham White, 17
years old.
Seen here, my brother in Local
Defence Volunteer uniform, later to
become The Home Guard, with his
friend Leslie Oliver (left). They both
joined the Grenadier Guards at 18.
Graham, as a member of a Churchill
Tank crew, fought with the Guards
Armoured Division from Normandy
to Luneberg Heath, while his friend's
Battalion was sent to serve
elsewhere. "Les" was killed during
the fighting in Italy. |
