BATTLE ABBEY

In the year 1076, the second Abbot Gausbert, was blessed by the Bishop of Chicester at the high altar, built on the spot where Harold was killed.

William had intended to be present at the dedication of the Abbey, but in the year 1087, he died in Normany after being thrown from his horse during the burning of Mantes.

His wish was to be buried here in his Abbey, but for some reason he was buried in Normandy

Three Generations of the White family

 A dedicated family team of Gardeners who tended the Kitchen Gardens, and Greenhouses to provide Fresh Fruit, Flowers and Vegetables for use in the Abbey School
They also produced Bedding Plants and Shrubs for the Grounds surrounding the Abbey Buildings.
